my story

I am a girl named Jane Kageha, I am 23 years old. I did my primary school at Losengeli Primary school, here I finished as an average student. As a result, I was not eligible for a grant to continue studying, so I could not continue studying.

In 2007 I got pregnant with my then boyfriend. We were going to get married, but when the elections started and the turmoil that accompanied it, he disappeared without a trace. To this day, no one has ever heard from him or found his body.

This makes my life very difficult. A single mother has no future in Kenya.

Family situation

I come from a family of 18 children, 7 boys and 11 girls. My parents were very poor and therefore did not have enough money to take good care of us. Year after year, brothers and sisters died, both from illness and from lack of food. At the moment we are left with 3 boys and 7 girls.

Both my parents and all my brothers and sisters are unemployed. My younger brothers and sisters are still in primary school. This is already very difficult for us, because the school uniform and school fees are difficult to get together. We sometimes receive money from people, but that goes directly to the necessities for the family, such as food and clothing.

I really want to study tailoring in order to take care of my child and my family, so that our standard of living will improve.

My life is extremely difficult, but I really appreciate that I can get further in life in this way. I pray to God that he can fulfill my dream of improving the living standard of our family.

I am very grateful to be sponsored and will do my very best in school to make the training a success.
